Spartan: Technohull Alpha 50

Technohull has launched a new flagship, the 50ft maxi-RIB Alpha 50. This fast and comfortable cabin boat incorporates all the achievements of the Greek shipyard.

Greece may not be the first country that comes to mind when discussing high technology. While the fastest rally cars race along the country's winding and dusty roads each year, this land of olives, picturesque islands, and ancient heritage is better known for its cultural treasures. However, it is also home to some of the world's most advanced maxi-RIBs, such as those produced by Technohull.

The Greek boatyard has recently unveiled its latest flagship RIB, the 50-foot Technohull Alpha 50. This fast and comfortable cabin boat showcases the brand's achievements and innovations since its establishment in 2005.

The hull of the Technohull Alpha 50 incorporates the brand's signature Dynastream technology. Its deadrise angle and stepped design mimic those of offshore racing boats. The sharp bow slices through waves, preventing slamming, while the steps and spray chines create low-pressure zones that draw air beneath the boat at high speeds. This results in an air cushion effect that reduces drag, facilitating quick planning at low speeds and enabling higher speeds with less energy consumption—essentially, better fuel efficiency. This principle applies to nearly all speedboats, including rescue and military vessels. So, what sets Technohull apart? Each shipyard develops its own hull molds through meticulous calculations and extensive testing.

The exterior of the Technohull Alpha 50 can be summed up in one word: "power." This boat evokes the image of a Spartan warrior from an action movie—minimal armor, just raw muscle and fighting spirit. Dressed in a striking graphite-black finish, the RIB exudes a particularly fierce presence.

The helm station of the Alpha 50 is protected by aggressively angled glass that seamlessly transitions into a hardtop.

The dashboard features three large color screens, flanked by smartphone holders equipped with wireless charging ports. Six sports seats, designed with advanced support and cushioning, come with reclining bolsters for stand-up steering, ensuring that both the driver and passengers are securely seated or standing at high speeds.

Access to the cabin is provided by a pantograph door on the starboard side. Inside, you'll find a spacious double bed, ample storage, and a separate bathroom with a shower. Ceiling portholes flood the cabin with natural light, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, buyers can opt for an extra single cabin in the bow for a hired captain.

In a departure from traditional designs, the shipyard has replaced the solid, side-to-side aft berth with an island-style configuration. This innovative layout not only offers convenient side passageways but also allows for a spacious storage locker beneath. For added convenience, the berth can be accessed from both the cockpit and transom sides.

Another sun lounger is positioned in front of the control station, while two sofas and a folding table behind the helm create a dining area for 4 to 6 people. The boat can accommodate up to 16 guests in total. For added customization, buyers can opt for a console with a custom-configured bar in place of one of the sofas.

One of the standout features of the Maxi-RIB is the flexibility in power options. The Technohull Alpha 50 can be equipped with anywhere from two to five outboard motors or two inboard engines. Choosing the latter configuration will sacrifice a stern locker, but it provides a full-fledged bathing platform.

When outfitted with four 500-hp Mercury engines, the Alpha 50 can achieve a top speed of over 78 knots (145 km/h). If equipped with 600-hp engines, it can reach speeds of 87 knots (160 km/h). Remarkably, the shipyard asserts that, thanks to the exceptional performance of the hull, the Alpha 50's fuel consumption is comparable to that of smaller Technohulls. However, such marketing claims should be approached with caution, as various factors can influence actual performance.

Like any maxi-RIB, the Alpha 50 provides an exhilarating sense of connection with the elements—truly the ultimate summer holiday boat. It features a robust safety belt system that alleviates concerns about mooring while enhancing passenger safety. With ample sunbathing space, high-quality marine acoustics for parties on the go, a spacious dining area for large gatherings, and a cabin for moments of privacy, the Alpha 50 serves as a personalized beach club. It can swiftly transport you to a variety of destinations, from lively promenades filled with trendy disco bars to secluded, wild beaches.
