Luxury and racing yacht specialist McConaghy Boats has teamed up with New Zealand–based e-propulsion experts from ZeroJet to develop the MC-ZERO 450, an innovative new tender that is sure to turn heads. Built from carbon fiber, it features a patented movable helm console that lets you reconfigure the cockpit layout to maximize usable space on the fly. The modular deck, paired with steer-by-wire technology, allows the vessel to transform from a passenger shuttle to a cargo platform in just minutes. Dual electric waterjets provide extra system redundancy, while an electric drop-down bow ladder allows for effortless beach landings. Power comes from two 30 kW electric motors fed by a 32.4 kWh solid-state battery pack. With a capacity for 8 to 9 passengers, the MC-ZERO 450 reaches speeds of up to 25 knots.
According to Chris Baird, CEO of MC-ZERO, the MC-ZERO 450 sets a new benchmark in the tender market. 'While conventional vessels are constrained by fixed layouts and bulky engine boxes that eat up space, the 450 is a boat that adapts to the user—not the other way around,' explains Mr. Baird.
