The first YXT34 in build at Lynx Yachts

The new 33.8 m yacht will be the flagship of the YXT range, capable of carrying a submarine onboard.
The YXT series of multi-functional support vessels is the hallmark of Dutch shipyard Lynx Yachts, whose portfolio also includes the Crossover series and Adventure expedition yachts. Designed to expand the capabilities of a mothership, these support vessels are typically equipped with additional guest cabins, entertainment areas, and spacious garages for tenders and water toys, including mini-submarines.

The YXT 34—commissioned by a "young and very active individual"—is something even more ambitious. The client has outlined plans to explore not only the surface of the ocean but also its depths, requesting an enlarged tender, a fleet of jet skis, a full-size submarine, and an expedition-ready off-road vehicle. The shipyard has yet to disclose how big one can go with a submarine on a 33.8 m vessel with a beam of 8.8 m. What the yard does emphasise is that Bernd Weel Studio, responsible for the new model's design, and Diana Yacht Design, in charge of engineering, have crafted the YXT 34 as a fully autonomous yacht—marking a departure from the traditional "shadow vessel" role of Lynx support craft.

It is also noted that the YXT 34, as an evolution of the successful YXT 27 model, represents a "significant leap in scale and sophistication". Interior designer Julian Moore will ensure that six guests can live aboard in an atmosphere of "calming luxury". The yacht will have a top speed of 17 kts.

Construction has already begun at the Lynx Yachts shipyard in Nijkerk, the Netherlands, with the YXT 34 scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2028.
