The newly established EkoKat Yachts International shipyard has unveiled an ambitious motor catamaran project, which it proudly labels as “the world’s first 60-foot superyacht.”
What’s behind such a bold claim?
Measuring 18.9 m in length, the EkoKat62 offers onboard space comparable to that of yachts measuring 30–40 m, all at a significantly lower price—under $3 million.
One of the yacht’s standout features is its expansive 80 sqm flybridge, fully equipped with a kitchen and bar for six guests, multiple sun loungers, a raised sunbathing platform measuring 1.2 m, an optional Jacuzzi, and dedicated areas for dining and relaxation. The flybridge also houses the helm station, complete with four seats featuring Xenta joysticks.
A strong emphasis has been placed on sustainability. The retractable hardtop incorporates solar panels with a capacity of 600 kW, which charge battery packs capable of powering most onboard systems without the need for generators. This means that while anchored, guests can enjoy the sounds of nature and their favourite music without engine noise.
The catamaran is also equipped with a spacious garage for water toys, including electric foils, underwater scooters, and more.
The 67 sqm saloon is designed for dual functionality. Thanks to soundproofed electric partitions, it can be transformed into guest cabins. The full-beam owner’s suite features private access to the foredeck, which includes a dining area styled for tapas and additional sunpads.
The yacht also boasts a fully equipped galley and a dumbwaiter for serving meals on the flybridge.
The EkoKat 62 is packed with features typically found on superyachts, including the Ultra Anchor system for secure mooring. According to its creators, the yacht is expected to reach a cruising speed of 22 knots.
The project is set to make its official debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival.
