SX120: the new flagship of the crossover range from Sanlorenzo

The new yacht with IPS, generous open beach club, and outside pool aft is set to premiere in Cannes.
Sanlorenzo, the renowned Italian yacht builder, has unveiled its latest creation, the SX120—a fresh addition to its crossover range that redefines the concept of life at sea. The first unit is set to debut at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival and will be the brand’s first composite yacht equipped with Volvo Penta’s Inboard Propulsion System (IPS).

First revealed at the 2024 boot Düsseldorf, the SX120 features twin 1,000 hp engines for each of its pod drives, delivering impressive performance for a yacht of its size. The propulsion system includes an Eco Mode function, which automatically adjusts engine power based on load, optimising fuel consumption, reducing emissions, and minimising wear on the cylinder-piston assembly.

The SX120 boasts a four-deck layout with a unique design that shifts the primary interior volumes forward, allowing for an expanded aft cockpit. The yacht’s exterior and interior designs are the result of collaboration with Italian studios Zuccon International Project and Piero Lissoni, who have been integral to the SX series since the launch of the SX88 in 2017.

One of the standout features of the SX120 is its beach area, which includes a retractable pool that can be concealed via a lift-and-slide deck mechanism for optimal sailing conditions. This area can expand from 40 to 70 square meters thanks to fold-out terraces on both sides, providing water access on three sides. Inside the beach area, guests will find a comfortable lounge and access to the lower deck, which houses crew quarters, a hammam, and four guest cabins—one of which can be converted into a lounge.

At the heart of the main deck is a spacious saloon, featuring a sculptural wooden staircase wrapped in steel. A dining area that accommodates up to 14 guests is located aft, while the forward section is dedicated to a master suite with direct access to the bow.

Other notable features of the SX120 include a skylounge that can be converted into a dining area, media room, or playroom, and a flybridge with a modular layout, allowing owners to customise the space to suit their preferences and needs.
