Navetta 30: effortless elegance

If the Navetta 30 were something you could wear, it would embody the essence of high-end Italian smart casual—like an outfit from Loro Piana or Brunello Cucinelli. It’s not about making a bold statement; it’s about appreciating something flawlessly crafted, effortlessly comfortable, and timelessly elegant—perfect for both formal and casual occasions.

Filippo Salvetti

The Navetta 30 concept was unveiled in November 2019 at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. After six years, there are already 22 of them cruising all over the world. Hull number 23 has just been launched, and the 24th is scheduled for delivery in July.

What has made the Navetta 30, the smallest of the displacement Navetta range by Custom Line, such a hit?

Designer Filippo Salvetti, a long-time collaborator with the Ferretti Group, made his debut as the exterior designer for Custom Line yachts with the Navetta 30.

The exterior of this compact displacement yacht, the smallest in the Custom Line range, is sleek and sporty. The hull design builds on the concepts introduced with its larger siblings, the Navetta 33 and Navetta 37, but has a more dynamic and cohesive appearance.

Salvetti enhanced the superstructure and main deck with larger panoramic windows and darkened frames, drawing attention to the horizontal lines of the decks.

At 28.43 meters in length, the Navetta 30’s three decks, including a flybridge, are already impressive. Yet, the yacht’s parallel lines visually elongate the profile, giving it a more dynamic look. Salvetti suggests amplifying this effect by painting the superstructure in white and the hull in metallic gray or another shade, or by using contrasting colors—such as dark blue—for the deck outlines. These color schemes, proposed by Salvetti, can be seen in the yacht’s concept renderings.

The yacht’s elegance lies in the combination of structural elements and fine details. For instance, the open space at the aft section of the upper deck features a floating spiral staircase, lightweight railings, robust cylindrical flybridge supports, and stainless steel furniture frames—all hallmarks of moda italiana.

Technology and seaworthiness

The Custom Line Navetta 30 is well-suited for extended solo voyages. Certified as a CE CLASS A vessel, it is capable of venturing into open seas with wind forces up to 8 on the Beaufort scale and waves exceeding 4 meters. Upon request, the yacht can be equipped with two types of stabilizers: electro-hydraulic fins and Seakeeper gyroscopes.

The yacht has a range of up to 1,000 nautical miles without refueling. Standard propulsion comes from two MAN i6 engines, each delivering 800 hp, enabling a top speed of 14 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots. Optional upgrades include more powerful MAN V8 engines with either 1,000 or 1,200 hp each.

The Navetta 30 is designed for quiet and comfortable cruising. Ferretti Group engineers developed a full-scale acoustic model to optimize sound and vibration insulation, adapting technologies from larger models. In addition to state-of-the-art insulating materials, the yacht features a “floating” floor system that prevents transmission of engine noise, footsteps, or conversations from adjacent spaces into guest areas.

One standout feature of Custom Line yachts is Ferretti Group’s patented DMT (Dual Mode Transom). This system operates in two modes: the panel can be raised to partially submerge the beach club, allowing for the launch of a tender, or lowered into the water to expand the beach club area.

Interior Layout

The Navetta 30’s layout centers on creating a seamless, multi-level flow between outdoor relaxation areas and indoor salons, from the flybridge to the aft beach club by the water. Guests can enjoy both shared spaces and private retreats.

The expansive open lounge on the flybridge spans the entire deck. It accommodates larger groups with a soft sofa and armchairs, while couples can enjoy a more intimate setting at a small table.

Descending the spiral staircase leads to the upper deck, which offers two additional relaxation zones. One features a full-width sofa and dining table, connected to a salon that can serve as a dining room or cinema. The second is located at the bow, where a four-person sofa, a low table, and two sun loungers provide a cozy retreat.

On the main deck, the full-beam forward master suite is designed for ultimate comfort. The layout prioritizes the user’s experience, making it a space where one would want to spend extended time. Warm, soft light fills the suite through panoramic windows, which also open onto a private balcony—perfect for solitude. Iconic furniture pieces by Antonio Citterio, such as the minimalist metal table and chairs, add a touch of sophistication.

The centerpiece of the suite is a large bed elevated on a platform, set against a dark fabric-covered wall with a high, chocolate-toned headboard. White pillows suspended on leather straps complete the look. Guests can admire the views not only from the balcony but also from a chaise lounge by the opposite window. The suite also includes a functional workspace.

The main deck seamlessly integrates an open lounging area, set atop the tender and toy garage, with the spacious salon. The two spaces are separated by sleek glass doors, while the salon’s large windows and side openings flood the area with natural light. Inside, there’s an L-shaped sofa, a sideboard, and armchairs.

The lower deck houses four guest suites and three crew cabins. Each guest cabin has its own en-suite bathroom, while built-in wardrobes double as mini walk-in closets. The yacht can accommodate up to 10 guests in total.

Interior Design

The Navetta 30 is the first Custom Line yacht with interiors designed in collaboration with the Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel studio. This Italian design duo, with decades of experience, is known for their versatility in architecture, interior design, and furniture creation. Their projects span Europe, the U.S., Japan, and even Russia, where they designed the interiors for the Barvikha Hotel & Spa near Moscow and the W Hotel in St. Petersburg.

While they have previously worked on custom yacht projects, the Navetta 30 marks their first opportunity to fully showcase their design philosophy. The interiors feature soft pastel tones, simple yet elegant forms, and nautical motifs, creating a harmonious atmosphere.

The designers maximized free space by embedding cabinets into the walls, turning them into display cases with thick glass panels framed by rounded teak edges, reminiscent of portholes. Lightweight teak blinds replace traditional curtains.

Furniture is crafted from solid wood and cutting-edge materials such as carbon fiber, quartz, and fiberglass. Upholstery includes natural leather and exclusive fabrics. Iconic furniture and lighting designs from various eras are also featured throughout the yacht.

Custom Line offers two interior color schemes:

  1. Wooden Mood: This warm and inviting option features teak-paneled walls, chocolate-toned leather upholstery, and accents. It creates a cozy and welcoming ambiance, particularly in the evening under artificial lighting.
  2. Textured Mood: A more youthful scheme with walls in off-white or charcoal tones, teak trim on built-in cabinets, windowsills, and door frames, and cinnamon-colored leather accents. This palette is brighter and lighter than Wooden Mood.
