The Swedish-Californian startup Lind has introduced the electric surfboard Canvas. It stands out from several existing market alternatives due to its sleek and minimalist design. Externally, the new water toy looks almost like a regular surfboard but with increased thickness.
All electronics and the waterjet drive are mounted in a compact, removable module. It can be detached and coupled with another board — a cool nod to customers, as the brand plans to produce a whole range of different types of boards.
The weight of the board without the battery is only 7kg, the weight of the drive is also relatively low - 10kg. The output of the specially designed water jet reaches 27 hp, allowing to reach speeds of up to 65 km/h. The board is controlled by a wireless remote joystick.
Besides of standard model (Canvas), customers can also purchase exclusive surfboards with colourful graphic designs created as part of Lind's collaboration with 12 contemporary artists: Alexander Lind, Amalia Restrepo, BB Bastidas, Chris Burkard, Critters Toy Co., David Alabo, Erik Skoldberg, Jessica Kayll, Lucas Beaufort, Martijn Stiphout, Micah Beutz, Peter Matthews, Robert Lindström Zetterberg, Terry Urban.
The collaboration is meant to raise awareness of ocean conservation, and proceeds from the exclusive boards will be donated to Oceanic Global. The collection includes 20 unique designs (see them in the gallery).
