Y6: new entry-level sailing yacht from YYachts

YYachts has unveiled a new 20 metre yacht for single-handed operation.
YYachts is working on its first model designed for single-handed operation. Designed by American naval architect Bill Tripp, the Y6 will measure 20 meters in length, allowing YYachts to significantly expand its market reach by entering the segment of yachts that do not require a professional crew.

Having sold 50 boats since its inception, the German shipyard has built a successful portfolio over the past 10 years, which includes the 22-meter Y7, the 24-meter Y8, the 27-meter Y9, as well as custom projects. Notably, the Y7 is valued for its ability to be operated with a minimal crew, which has contributed to its sales of over 20 units.

Thiel Hetterschijt, CEO of YYachts, states that for many yacht owners, true luxury is the ability to travel independently, without a crew. They want to enjoy their yacht along with their family or close friends. The Y6 provides this opportunity, embodying the key principle of YYachts—perfect simplicity.

"The new model," Hetterschijt notes, "has been developed in response to numerous requests from owners and potential clients. I am convinced that Y6 sales will surpass those of the Y7. The first two hulls will be ready for delivery in spring 2026."

Constructed from carbon fiber and epoxy resin, the Y6 not only offers cruising capabilities but also possesses high racing potential, allowing you to upgrade the rig to a race-class package optimized for ORC.

The Y6 will be officially unveiled at the Palma International Boat Show, starting on April 30.
