Act on the situation

Oceanco has expanded its Simply Custom venture to include interior design services. Now you can decide more quickly how to customise your yacht by choosing a concept from one of the most renowned designers.

The Dutch shipyard continues to seek ways to speed up and optimise yacht design. In 2023, Oceanco introduced a modular approach to exterior and marine engineering called Simply Custom. At the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, the company showcased how this approach could also be applied to interior design.

In essence, the concept allows clients to select a design for their future yacht—around 80 meters in length—from an extensive library of ready-made solutions created by leading design studios such as Espen Øino, Lobanov Design, and Nuvolari Lenard. These designs are then customised further. The technical systems are built using pre-designed modules based on established protocols. The layouts are also pre-defined, featuring four decks (bridge, upper, main, and lower), divided into zones. Within each zone, clients have the flexibility to personalise the arrangement.

Six world-class interior designers were given carte blanche, resulting in imaginative yet fully realisable projects.

Luca Dini pushed the boundaries of what a beach club could be. The standout feature of his design is a waterfall cascading into a large pool. According to the designer, "The market demands spacious aft areas with direct access to the sea." This led to the idea of a two-level beach club, designed not only to connect guests with the ocean but also to create a multifunctional space spanning 500 square meters.

Dasha Moranova’s beach club is styled in a milky-white palette with grey accents and features intricate curved surfaces. Particularly striking are the enormous aquarium and the "cracked" ceiling. The Czech designer explains, "Our Simply Custom interior is a streamlined, flexible design approach that allows for easy personalisation without altering the core structure. Special attention is paid to finishes and details tailored to individual preferences. We partnered with Bozca Limitless Design to create an interior that complements the Simply Custom concept."

Guillaume Rolland reimagined a project originally designed by Studio Liaigre for MTT Voyageur by Messerschmitt Yachts. He demonstrated how it could be adapted to work with any yacht exterior within the Simply Custom framework.

According to Rolland, the interior is "organised around a scenario specifically conceived and developed for the living space." This space is designed to accommodate a wide range of situations: family relaxation, working from home, informal gatherings, parties with friends, formal receptions, everyday life, and much more.

Diego Burdi and Paul Filek of Burdifilek drew inspiration from the strength, elegance, soft edges, and curves of Oceanco’s Pegasus concept. Refined wood and irregularly edged stones create a sense of warmth and cosiness, while the rich, dark colour palette lends the interior a sense of sophistication.

François Zuretti and Sébastien Gay of Zuretti Design, in their Terra project, explore "various ways to represent the connection between the interior and the outside world." In their beach club design, organic forms and natural materials foster a sense of unity with nature. "Like rocks shaped by time and wind into smooth contours, wooden partitions form gentle transitions between spaces," the designers share.
