Baglietto launches 40m hybrid yacht L'Instant

Italian shipyard Baglietto has unveiled the 40-meter yacht L'Instant, the first model in the DOM 133 series equipped with a hybrid propulsion system.

The innovative system enables the yacht's diesel engines to run on HVO biofuel, which, the shipyard claims, can "reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90%." This technology combines a diesel engine with an ultra-compact hybrid unit, featuring an electric motor installed between the main engine and the gearbox.



Due to the additional space required for the hybrid system compared to standard engines, the 5.8-meter tender and two jet skis have been relocated to the upper deck, where a crane with a lifting capacity of 1,600 kg has been installed for their deployment.

The yacht can remain at anchor for up to nine hours in zero-emission mode, operating in complete silence.



The design of L'Instant was crafted by Stefano Vafiadis and Leonardo Santi. Compared to previous yachts in this series, the layout has been significantly reimagined: the galley has been moved from the main deck to the lower deck, making room for a VIP cabin. Meals from the galley are transported to the sundeck via a dumb waiter. Additionally, the former pool area has been transformed into a fully equipped open-air gym.

Interior incorporates sustainable materials, including carpets and fabrics made from recycled ocean plastics and "regenerated industrial waste."

L'Instant can reach a maximum speed of 17 knots when powered by diesel engines and nearly 10 knots in fully electric mode.
