INEOS Britannia racing team and its CEO/skipper, Sir Ben Ainslie, have part ways following a disappointing campaign in the 37th America's Cup. According to the parties' statement, the two were unable to agree terms to move forward. The British syndicate will make another attempt to claim the most prestigious trophy in sailing under the leadership of its new CEO, Dave Endean. James Allison, from the Mercedes F1 Team, will remain as the team’s technical director.
In 2024, under Ben Ainslie's leadership, the British team reached the America's Cup final for the first time, winning the Louis Vuitton Cup qualifying series. They also managed to win races off the current holders, Emirates Team New Zealand during finals — for the 1st time in 90 years. However, the Kiwis managed to retain the Cup.
