The primary focus of the owner of the 50-meter Anjelif was not on luxury but rather on cutting-edge technology. However, Maria Francesca Angelini also ensured that the yacht featured elegant champagne-colored paintwork and a teak finish for the helipad and swimming pool.
Challenging the stereotype that "full custom yachts are built by men," the 50-meter Anjelif stood out at the autumn Monaco Yacht Show. Commissioned by Maria Francesca Angelini of Solumbus, an heiress of a prominent Roman pharmaceutical and financial empire who founded her own cosmetics line, Anjelif, she defied the notion that design and comfort are the primary concerns for women in yachting. Her brief emphasized technology over aesthetics, resulting in the Anjelif —a highly advanced aluminum yacht known for its hybrid propulsion and air purification systems.
Notably, the air purification system was developed by Signora Angelini in collaboration with engineer Giuseppe Sole. It utilizes cold plasma technology to treat incoming air, effectively eliminating bacteria and viruses. Each room on the yacht is sanitized at regular intervals, and a nearly invisible air conditioning system maintains a comfortable temperature and humidity. This comprehensive system is unparalleled in the yachting world, making Anjelif an ultimate marine pandemic shelter.
The hybrid propulsion system, which incorporates elements from the Columbus Sport Hybrid 40m project, was specifically designed for Anjelif by Columbus in partnership with Siemens. It features two MTU 16V 2000 M96L diesel engines, each producing 2,600 hp, along with two 175 kW Kohler generators.
In standard operation, the yacht runs on diesel, with the engines handling navigation while the generators supply power to onboard systems. In all-electric mode, the engines are turned off, and the generators power both the onboard systems and two 100 kW electric motors, allowing for a quiet cruising speed of approximately 8 knots—ideal for nighttime passages with minimal noise, akin to a sailing yacht. Additionally, a valogenerator mode allows the main engines to transfer some of their torque to the electric motors, generating electricity while the onboard generators can be turned off, extending their lifespan and improving energy efficiency. The latest battery technology ensures seamless transitions between power modes, automatically switching to the available source, whether from diesel generators or electric motors. Anjelif boasts a maximum speed of 20 knots and an impressive range of 3,200 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots.
The yacht's advanced technology is beautifully complemented by its striking design. Anjelif features a powerful straight bow that conveys both elegance and sportiness. Designer Marco Casali (Too-Design) added a playful touch to the yacht's aesthetic without compromising sophistication. The exterior is painted in warm, "gourmet" colors, with the hull and superstructure primarily in champagne, while the hardtop, outer walls, and parts of the sundeck supports are in a rich milk chocolate hue, harmoniously paired with teak decks, bathing platforms, and pool edges.
The bathing platform is both spacious and well organized. A teak-lined rectangular platform extends from the center on a ramp, which can be submerged or raised for easy boarding from a high pier or for diving practice. The side bulwarks can be lowered to create sunbathing areas or to accommodate a tender, a custom bowrider launched through a port-side door. When the sun is intense, guests can find shade on sunbeds under the overhang of the main pool, which features a transparent bottom and back wall. Swimming in this pool is delightful in any weather, enhanced by a countercurrent system and a powerful heating mechanism. The wide teak edge is perfect for placing cocktails prepared by the bartender at the whitewashed oak counter with crystal accents. The pool area is surrounded by sofas, creating a two-level beach club ideal for pool parties or welcoming guests before they head into the main salon.
Entering the spacious main salon, guests are immediately captivated by the stunning views through floor-to-ceiling windows. Soft light filters through a golden dome of recessed lighting in the partitions. The furnishings are elegantly simple, with a striking custom-designed sofa that commands attention. This large piece is divided into two oval halves, each consisting of two sections. The front sections are mounted on hidden rails, allowing them to unfold toward the TV screen on the front wall at the push of a button. Upholstered in champagne-colored Armani checked silk, the sofa adds a touch of luxury.
Uniquely, the main deck does not feature a traditional dining area. Instead, guests dine on the upper deck, where they can choose between al fresco meals or enjoying the sky lounge, depending on the weather. A large galley equipped with professional-grade appliances is conveniently located on the main deck, complete with a lift for efficient service.
The main salon effectively serves as a lounge adjacent to the grand master suite, designed to provide an indulgent experience even far from shore. This suite occupies the entire forward section of the yacht and includes a bedroom, an office with a TV, a massage room, a gym equipped with Technogym equipment, and a generously sized G-shaped dressing room meticulously organized for all types of clothing and accessories. The luxurious bathroom features a double basin made of yellow quartz, a large elevated Jacuzzi by the window, a mosaic shower with intricate tile work, a hammam, and an infrared sauna. A standout feature of the owner's stateroom is a large fixed balcony that offers breathtaking views and complete privacy.
Interiors are dominated by various shades of oak, complemented by canaletto walnut accents and white lacquered wood with brushed rose gold inlays. The cupboard fronts are crafted from solid oak and adorned in the boiserie style, enhanced by Taurini wall panels made from natural semi-precious stones that are illuminated for a unique ambiance. Thoughtfully designed lighting throughout the cabins and salons creates a relaxing atmosphere, with the evening shadows adding to the yacht's charm.
The lower deck comprises four guest cabins with a total of eleven berths, each featuring large rectangular windows that provide stunning views while sailing or at anchor. Two cabins are equipped with an innovative 2-in-1 system that allows single beds to convert into a double bed, while the other two cabins include a sliding partition, enabling them to function individually or as a VIP cabin with a home office.
On the upper deck, a spacious sunbathing area features a custom large teak table for ten, perfect for outdoor dining beneath the sandeck overhang. Double doors lead into the skylounge dining room, where a magnificent table, inlaid with oyster shells, can be divided into two round gaming tables, a customization made by Angelini. The skylounge area shares space with a comfortable deckhouse, a cozy captain's cabin, and various service areas.
Not all 50-meter yachts come with a helipad, but Anjelif boasts a beautifully designed one. The circular surface is lined with concentric circles of teak slats radiating from the letter H. Loungers near the helipad serve dual purposes—not only for sunbathing but also as seating for an open-air cinema with a giant screen that rises from the deck in the evenings.
The sundeck is exquisitely appointed to match the other decks, featuring two large chaise lounges with adjustable backrests, a bespoke round teak table for eight, a spacious bar with bleached oak slats, and a C-shaped sofa upholstered in ivory Rubelli fabric. At the bow's far end is a custom swimming pool with hydromassage features.
Anjelif's distinctive personality is evident in every detail, and while one might assume this yacht is strictly private, she is available for charter and is poised to be one of the most intriguing options for the upcoming seasons.
